Lubricants for Stainless Steel

Lubricants for Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel Fasteners tend to seize while being assembled (tightened). The risk of seizing is reduced by using a good quality Molybdenum Disulphide lubricant.

Anzor has the following lubricants available:

Prolan Protective Lanolin

What is it?

Lanolin is a natural substance secreted by sheep to provide a protective coating on their fleece for protection in harsh condition.

Prolan is excellent for corrosion prevention and lubrication and is available in several forms.

Molybond Coating System

What is it?

Molybonding nuts bolts or screws provides a durable barrier coating which is bonded to the surface of the Bolt or Nut. This inert and durable barrier is bonded to the surface of the substrate and is resistant to corrosion and chemical attack, also preventing electrochemical corrosion. The relatively low film build of the coating allows it to be used on mating parts without having to oversize. Molybond also provides excellent dry film lubrication.

Typical Characteristics

  • Grey Black satin appearance, only 20 - 25 microns
  • Very good anti-seize
  • 500 hours salt spray protection
  • Good acid, alkali and solvent resistance
  • Coats on, Stainless Steel, Aluminium, Brass and Zinc Die cast

Recommended Areas of Application

Potential applications for the Molybond coating system are limitless, common applications which have proven their cost effectiveness are:

Anzor Fasteners Ltd carry on hand a range of Molybonded Nuts.

  • Threaded Fasteners - Bolts, Springs, Brackets and Levers
  • Automotive Parts - Camshafts
  • Engineering Components - Couplings, Bearing Surfaces, Gears, Hinge Pins, Hydraulic Seals, Chains
